Bittersweet Farewell

Hello - It's been a while hasn't it? Yes it has, we know and we're sorry for not writing....

Life seems to have been happening without a moment to write and there's so much to catch up on but for now we shall fast forward to the present. You know what this week is? Well, it is our last week here in Nairobi - in Kenya - in Africa. I know what you're thinking....no more safaris? no more pictures of Chuck Norris on the great savannah? No more....

Our year in Africa is actually coming to an end and we too are in shock. Who would have guessed we would have been here for one whole year and now that year has passed so quickly?! But I guess time flies when you're having fun. And oh what fun we have had!

It is with bittersweet emotions that we say goodbye to our friends and colleagues here in Nairobi and at TechnoServe. Brian and I have made so many lifelong friends during our stay and we are so grateful for the opportunity to have lived in such a vibrant culture and beautiful country. We know we're only saying 'see you later' as Kenya will always be a place to return to in our future.

So what's next you ask? Well, we can speak to the very short term but beyond that we shall see and keep you posted! We depart Nairobi on Thursday and arrive in San Francisco the following day but only after traveling for approximately 24 hours. The 3rd we head to Sonoma to attend a good friend's wedding and get reacquainted with the US via wine country - not a bad way to transition back :-) We'll spend some time there getting over our jet-lag and then we'll spend time in San Jose - visiting our wonderful family!

There will be near future plans to visit the Midwest and catch up with friends and family all over the place. We look forward to seeing everyone and catching up on our year and your year! We've missed you all very dearly and are excited to say hello. However, at the same time we are also quite sad to say goodbye (or 'see you later') to Nairobi. It's a bittersweet farewell indeed.

Hugs,
Team Feth*

Massai, a Cave and a Goat

It was an interesting weekend indeed. We spent Saturday night in a cave with some Massai and slaughtered a goat. More to come....
