Monday the 6th of September marks the 2 year anniversary of our wedding and it also marks the 11th year of our being together.
It all started way back when on a small patio at a mutual friend's party at Purdue. There I was sitting outside chatting it up with some neighbors when all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I spotted this supercute guy walking through the patio door. His eyes sparkled in the night and he looked over my way. We were introduced and for the next hour we couldn't stop talking. I excused myself to go to the bathroom and on the way back my friend grabbed me to go to another party.
Of course the way Brian tells it sounds a bit different; 'she went to the bathroom and never came back. I was confused because I thought we were getting along well but guessed not..."
However you interpret that first night, things obviously worked out in the end and besides what can you really expect when you're 19 and in college? I know I know, it's hard to believe that this little team of ours joined forces at the young age of 19! The 11 years to follow would include a journey filled with happiness, heartache, discovery, growth, road trips across the US, new jobs in California, an engagement in Yosemite, wedding in Napa Valley and first year anniversary in West Africa.
So what's in store for our second? Well back to the beautiful scenery we enjoyed that morning Brian asked for my hand in marriage in Yosemite. We're heading off for a backpacking trip to our favorite national park but this time we'll try out some place new. One thing we've both realized is our love for the outdoors and adventure but most importantly is the love we have for one another. We're both very blessed and look forward to kicking off another year of marriage in this great team of ours :-)
